We should not forget the courage of the heads of 18 Jewish families in the Soviet State of Georgia. where Judaism has been practiced with fewer restrictions than elsewhere in Russia. who in November 1969. petitioned the United Nations to help Soviet Jews who seek to emigrate to Israel. Their plea was inspiring. They wrote: The time for fear has passed.
