Under his brilliant naval leadership. the American forces made a stunning recovery from the disaster of Pearl Harbor. gaining the offensive on the Japanese soon after his triumph at the Battle of Midway. The focal point of this spirited fund drive is the old Nimitz Hotel. which was built by the Admirals immigrant grandfather. Charles W. Nimitz.
