Session #91 · 1969–71

Speech #910298170

The going will be rough. but we must not lose sight of the dream which sent us on our way as one people in the first placethat our ship of state would remain the land of the brave and the home of the free. Christopher Columbus was only the first Italian to make a mark of greatness in America. Another was Enrico Fermi. the famous Italian physicist and Nobel Prize winner who emigrated to these shores in 1938. Although he never marched in the ranks. he must be acknowledged as one of the great heroes of World War II. For it was Enrico Fermi who split the atom and thus beat Hitlers scientists to the punch.
