Mr. President. on July 20. the members of the Migratory Labor Subcommittee were exposed to a shocking experience that I hope we will never have to go through again. We had learned that a team of renowned medical doctors and technicians. sponsored by the Field Foundation. had conducted an extensive investigation of the general health and living conditions of migrant and seasonal farmworkers in various sections of the country. They were invited to appear before the subcommittee on the basis of their preliminary reports which indicated terribly shocking survey results. As chairman of the Migratory Labor Subcommittee.
