Speaker. August 10 the Polish National Alliance of North America. the largest fraternal organization for Americans of Polish descent. observed the 90th anniversary of its founding. It was in Philadelphia in 1880 that five immigrants from Poland. deeply concerned with the welfare of everincreasing numbers of their compatriots arriving in America. first conceived the idea of forming the Polish National Alliance of North America. Initially the PNA set for itself two main objectives: to serve the best interest of Polish immigrants and to help the land of their origin. Poland. in its struggle for freedom. independence. and economic betterment. Among the landmarks of the PNA fraternal progress is the granting of full rights and privileges to wives and daughters of PNA members in 1900.
