It does not have anything to do with the law .of rape or prostitution. You are not going to have to change those laws: Fortyseven years ago the passage of this amendment would have been earthshaking. but that was a different world. Today. we are fellow immigrants in a strange new world30 million women are working. The census has shown that the poverty stricken families of men show upward mobility. but not the poverty stricken families headed by a woman.. It is past time that we consider these facts and that we begin the removal of any legal discrimination- against women. as we are attempting to removal legal discriminations against all other minorities.
