Charles Village today is a vibrant. diverse community that maintains a smalltown selfawareness and unity. It has scholars. professional people. emigrants from Appalachia. artists and blue collar workers. whites and blacks. orientals and Indians. students. young married. and oldsters. It still has problems. Schools need improvement. financing for home buying and rehabilitation is hard to come by. factions quarrel about the direction the community must take.
