Lithuania. and Estonia is being commemorated this week. This week marks the 30th anniversary of the Soviet invasion and their imposition of terror on these freedomloving countries. Between June 14 and June 17. 1940. the Soviets invaded Latvia. Lithuania. and Estonia. and incorporated them into the Soviet regime. Within the year. thousands of Estonians. Latvians. and Lithuanians were deported to the Soviet Union. mainly the dreaded Siberia. The seizure of the Baltic States has been a subject of serious discussion for some time. Four years ago. the House and Senate passed a resolution supporting the aspirations of Baltic peoples for selfdetermination and national independence.
