And these great and gifted leaders moulded and forged the image of the State of Israel. whose birth was proclaimed 22 years ago. Today this 22yearold State of Israel has grown in size and has become a powerful force in the Middle East. It has become the home for more than 2 million refugee Jews. and these have made it a progressive. prosperous. and industrious state. Yet. this tiny fortress of democracy will only continue to exist in the threat of SovietArab aggression if the United States will supply it with economic. military. and political support. The United States should not continue to aid and train Arab military personnel while refusing to sell jets to Israel.
