Some thirty years ago. as the world watched. the Nazis brought a holocaust upon the Jewish community of Europe. wiping out six million lives. This tragedy is all too fresh in our minds. and it should be fresh in the minds of the Soviet leaders. So all mankind has a stake In how the Soviet Union treats its Jewish minority. We must call on the Soviet Union to permit emigration to Israel for all those Jews who desire to leave. We must call on the Soviet Union to improve the religious and cultural climate within the Soviet Union for the Jews that will remain. We must urge the Soviet Union to join us on the side of mankind.
