Session #91 · 1969–71

Speech #910190907

I know well the indignities and the suffering of this brave person who brought these charges before the Commission. The Commission cannot divulge the name of the individual or his employer because under Commission rules an effort must be made to try to mediate this situation and abate the practices which the Commission found illegal. If the practices cannot be abated. then the Commission can ask the U.S. Attorney General to seek appropriate action under title VII against the employer which includes injunctive relief against the practices and indignities suffered by this worker. Mr. Speaker. there are millions of immigrants who have come to this country since the turn of "the century including Italians. Poles. Slovaks.
