Mr. Speaker. it was with deep regret that I learned of the passing of our former colleague Judge Thaddeus Machrowicz. Judge Machrowicz served his country with distinction in numerous positions. Born in Gostyn. Poland. Judge Machrowicz immigrated to the United States with his parents in 1902. During World War I he served as a lieutenant in the Polish Army of American Volunteers. After the war he continued his education. obtaining his law degree in 1924. For the next several years. he practiced law in Detroit. Mich. and also served in many different capacities at the local level. In 1951. Judge Machrowicz was elected to the Congress and served until 1961 when President Kennedy appointed him Federal district judge.
