Another decision of the Nigerian Government which militates against speedy relief is their determination not to allow the former joint church aid operation to assist in the operation. This was a joint effort of missionaries of various faiths which handled relief before the downfall of Biafra. It has been claimed that this organization was at one time capable of supplying 95 percent of the food to those in need at a given time within a period of 48 hours.
