Session #91 · 1969–71

Speech #910150020

The huge arsenal buildup by the Soviet Union in the Arab world coupled with the neglect by the United States. Britain. and France in the survival of the only democratic nation in the Middle East produces great concern for the real prospects of an immediate peace and the role of the United States in the search for that peace. The answer to Middle East crisis must be found not in military terms. but in solutions which emphasize peaceful coexistence. recognition of the sovereignties of the area. and their right to peaceful existence. recognition of refugee problems and their right to live. and recognition of nonmilitary expressions of hostility.
