Session #91 · 1969–71

Speech #910148270

The need this year is greater to do more in supporting assistance than I can recall at any time in the past. The supporting assistance is now in the amount of $95 million higher than provided in the House version of the bill. We have a total in supporting assistance of $395 million and most of itI would say more than 90 percent of itwill be used in connection with Vietnamizing the war. in carrying on the pacification program and in supporting the economy of South Vietnam as well as the refugees of which there are thousands who need this supporting assistance. Mr. Speaker.
