Session #91 · 1969–71

Speech #910133355

These brave people are now attempting to make a new life for themselves in other areas of the world. In this endeavor they need all the help they can get. Mr. Speaker. I am today introducing a resolution expressing the sense of the Congress that the President of the United States instruct the U.S. Representative to the United Nations to do whatever is necessary to have the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees assist the Czechoslovak refugees and to provide the facilities and assistance required to enable them to find new homes. The world which wept at the rape of Czechoslovakia in August 1968. must be willing to help the Czechoslovak refugees to build a new life for themselves.
