This is an enemy which can be overcome by commitment and involvement. flowing from a deep concern for the common good and nurtured by as deep a faith in the dignity of man and his destiny. I know that these are concerns truly and deeply felt by many Americans. and particularly by Americans of Japanese ancestry. During this. the centennial of Japanese immigration to the United States. this sense of commitment and involvement and a deep concern for the common good are evidenced in a resolution recently adopted by the Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce. strongly urging the repeal of title II of the Internal Security Act of 1950the Emergency Detention Act. This resolution reads in part: Whereas. the Emergency Detention Act thus violates the basic rights of the individual guaranteed by the Constitution of these United States and provides for detention procedures which are inconsistent with our normal judicial procedures. Now therefore Be It Resolved That. the Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce strongly urge the repeal of subtitle II of the Internal Security Act of 1950 ...
