Session #91 · 1969–71

Speech #910049496

President. the Justices of the Supreme Court have one of the most difficult jobs in our government. They must interpret constitutional phrases such as "due process." "equal protection of the laws." and "unreasonable searches and seizures." These terms have no fixed and immutable meaning. They can be applied to Individual cases only in the light of a Justices own experience and moral values. and the deeply rooted principles on which our society is based. Earl Warren travelled a long road to the Supreme Court which prepared him well for this demanding task. He was the son of Scandanavian Immigrants. His father worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad near Bakersfield. California.
