Speech #910032919

Speaker. on May 15. the State of Israel celebrated the 21st year of its independence. Because of its long and close relationship with the United States. it is fitting that we should note this event and that we should take the occasion to reflect upon the growth and the achievements of this young and vital nation. In the few short years of its existence Israel has successfully absorbed countless thousands of immigrants from lands as diverse as Yemen and the Soviet Union. Under conditions of extreme physical hardship. a state has been built that rivals any in the world for its industry. its creativity. and the dedication of its people. Three times this nation has fought to preserve its very right to exist.
