But the fact of the matter is that the figures are just inaccurate. and I know something about it. because this has been one of my own stamping grounds for many years. and I know all of the old families there and many of the newer ones. The idea of there being 4.000 or 5.000 destitute families there. when. to the contrary. there could not be half that many of migrant workers all told. at that time or in any 1 month. in that particular county. is also not in accord with the facts. I do not mean by that that the testimony was not given. because I am sure it must have been. or the Senator from South Dakota would not have so reported it. I have never known the Senator to misstate anything on the floor of the Senate. and I do not ever expect him to. and I have made that very clear.
