Session #91 · 1969–71

Speech #910020032

Even Florida people like to go to Florida in the wintertime. just as my friend from South Dakota and his committee chose to go down there to enjoy a few days. I noticed two completely inaccurate figures in his statement about his trip to Immokalee that I should like to advise my friend about. He declares. for instance. in his statement. that Collier County peoplespeaking about their willingness to take care of their owninclude 22.000 Collier migrants who harvest Colliers $40 million in farm produce. Twentytwo thousand is just about 10 times too many. I hold in my hand the official report of the Florida State Employment Service. which is a cooperative service of the Federal Government and the State. showing the figures both of intrastate and interstatewhich would be the migrants--on farm labor employed last year. 1968and this year is not greatly differentand I ask unanimous consent to have it printed In the RECORD in full at this time.
