Puerile cliches and thumping non sequiturs flew through the congressional air from selfappointed guardians of our public purse. But now the shoe ever so tightly pinches the Republican foot. It is their turn to seek to raise the debt limit. Loudly they proclaim its essentiality if the Republic is to be saved from the infidel. Any who oppose them in their avowed course will undoubtedly be called enemy aliens who are subverting the state. who should forthwith be deported. Past administrations have patiently sought to explain social needs which required such debt limit raises. I pant for enlightenment from the oracles of the Nixon administration.
