Session #91 · 1969–71

Speech #910007480

I am very grateful for the comments of my colleague from Kentucky. who has a worldwide reputation. as well as a reputation in this body. for his calm. just. and very balanced evaluation of international affairs. It gives me heart that he finds merit in the basic thesis I have laid before the Senate. Mr. President. I wish to close the discussion. Before I do. however. it is very important to emphasize the positive. I have always been very strongly for assistance in the resettlement of Arab refugees. and for the economic and social development of the Arab States. I hope I always shall be. The Middle East has the possibility of becoming a tremendously fruitful. prosperous. and happy area of the world. and I wish devoutly for nothing more than that.
