Mr. Ximenes has performed admirably in his efforts as a responsible leader of the Mexican American community and as a dedicated public servant. He has indicated a particular awareness that Mexican Americans make up nearly half of our Nations migrant agricultural workers. These forgotten Americans and their families. lead hard. uncertain lives. and their employment is determined by the season. not necessarily by their abilities or opportunities. The Subcommittee on Migratory Labor and many executive agencies. have been engaged in a vigorous effort to improve the status. health. economic security. education. and potential of these migrant farmworkers.
