Mr. President. on August 25. 1967. the Department answered my letter of August 8. 1967. and appeared to be more receptive to my urgent request. I was assured thatThe Department is continuing to keep the question of enlarging the scope of the refugee problem under serious consideration. At that time I was told that the Department had requested from its missions in Asia "additional facts" and the "appraisals of the extension of the program" to Asia and the Pacific. The Department assured me thatThe cogent points which are contained in your letter (dated August 8. 1967) along with the field evaluation of the matter will certainly receive our most serious study In our active review of this problem.
