Mr. President. this state and its security. the eloquence which has been shown by its valor in defending itself and in carving out a successful and effective state literally out of the barren soil. must all be tempered by the dangers which peace for the world and for Israel faces today. As the resolution before us states. if the reception of 1.25 million immigrants was historic. let us remember that there are still more than 3 million who are being prejudiced and discriminated against right now. because they are Jews. in the Soviet Union and in Poland. Jews are also in daily peril in the Arab States of the Middle East and other places throughout the world as are other minorities. But at least they have had the valor and will to carve out a secure place of refuge in Israel.
