Mr. Speaker. I favor the enactment of H.R. 15147. This legislation will expedite the naturalization of those alien veterans who serve our country honorably in Vietnam or similar combat involvements of the Armed Forces of the United States. Previously. we have enacted similar legislation for those aliens who served in the Armed Forces during World War I. World War II. and the Korean conflict. It is fitting and proper that those who risk their lives for our country should be accorded special treatment in acquiring citizenship. This bill is intended primarily to benefit servicemen who have served in Vietnam. However. it has been so drafted as to be applicable hereafter in any instance in which the President designates a given area as one in which U.S.
