Lithuania is a small. peaceful nation whose people only desire to live in freedom and to pursue. once again. the process of nation building. They have not been allowed to do so. The Soviet aggressors have abolished all independent Lithuanian agencies and institutions. and dissolved political. religious. cultural. social. and economic organizations. This transformation was accomplished through the use of brutal force. Stalinist Russia resorted to terror. deportation. mass arrest. and execution. Resistance to the regime still exists. however. and will continue to exist until the restoration of independence has been achieved by the freedomloving Lithuanians. In our own great Nation. we have all witnessed this same dedication to lofty ideals by Americans of Lithuanian descent.
