It is no longer an impersonal thing. And I have seen. from our countrys own point of view. an ounce of preventive medicine to communism. which in the long run may well be worth a pound of Vietnamtype "cures." To be sure. I have seen problems. too. like a small nations suffering from declining immigration plus low birth rate. Or like total exploitation of available or convertible farmland. because of a lack of water. Or like a serious refugee problem. But who would expect the best political system in the world in less than 20 years? Or complete settlement of Arab refugees in months? It may not have been much of a vacation from Washington. but it was a wonderful trip. A real eye opener.
