Mr. President. on August 25. the Department wrote me again. answering my August 8 letter. This time. the Department appeared to be more receptive to my urgent request and assured me thatThe Department is continuing to keep the question of enlarging the scope of the refugee problem under serious consideration. I was told that the Department has requested from its missions in Asia "additional facts" and the "appraisals of the extension of the program" to Asia and the Pacific. The Department assured me thatThe cogent points which are contained in your letterDated August 8along with the field evaluation of the matter will certainly receive our most serious study in our active review of this problem.
