Mr. Speaker. but I would hope that such a gesture on our part would produce a chain reaction that might lead to the end of one of the most troublesome aspects of the Middle Eastern morass. I would look to the other countries of the West to make similar gestures. Most of the Western European countries are still short of labor. Australia and New Zealand welcome immigrants. Canada. Brazil. and Argentina have already offered to accept some Arab refugees. The West has room for more Arab peoples. The nations of the Communist bloc would. I hope. behave with equivalent magnanimity.
