I now call this bill to the attention of the Members of the Senate and urge early action in that body. It would be unfortunate if the Senate fails to act before adjournment of this Congress. My second bill. H.R. 15183. will permit Cuban refugees in this country to adjust their status and become permanent residents if they so desire. My bill was approved. with amendments. by the House Judiciary Committee on September 1. 1966. and I am hopeful it will reach the House floor in the near future and thereafter receive both House and Senate approval. I call attention to House Report No. 1978. and to my state24. 1966. pages 11335. 11336.
