Session #89 · 1965–67

Speech #890270991

I want to particularly comment on the work of the Senator from New Jersey . The Senator from New Jersey and I. as the Senator from Texas knows. disagreed on some of the agricultural proposals within the committee. However. the contribution that the Senator from New Jersey has made with regard to the whole problem of migrant workers in this country. and what can be done to improve their lot. has been a great contribution to the legislative history of the Senate. In connection with this bill. we were able to bring forth a much better bill for the protection of the economic and humanitarian interests of the people covered by it because of the work of the Senator from New Jersey . The man who now sits at my left. the Senator from West Virginia . worked shoulder to shoulder with the senior Senator from Texas throughout our hearings and throughout the markup of the bill and throughout its full consideration in the committee.
