Session #89 · 1965–67

Speech #890261391

Mr. Speaker. as a member in good standing of Canton Chapter No. 59. the Order of AHEPA. it is a pleasure for me to join in this period of tribute to that fraternity and to the ideals that it represents. It has been a matter of only 50 or 60 years since great numbers of Greek people began to immigrate to the United States. This is a fact that is hard to keep in mind. for the accomplishments of our citizens of Greek origin are so many and varied that it seems almost impossible they have occurred in so short a span. Men who came here from Greece less than 50 years ago are now among the most prominent citizens of my congressional district. and I am certain this can be said of almost any city in the United States.
