We on this side of the Atlantic. as direct and indirect beneficiaries of Italys genius. naturally are happy to see the Republic of Italy attain a new maturity. Mr. Speaker. many Members of this distinguished body. past and present. and many members of other councils. courts. and legislative bodies throughout our land. are of Italian origin. Italys contributions to our Nation are incalculable. both in quality and quantity. And I am proud to have cosponsored the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965. which will stimulate the flow to our shores of those whose talents will again enrich our national life. I rise today. therefore. to salute the great nation of Italy and the Italian people. May the bonds of friendship that join our peoples ever endure.
