Speech #890187606

Scandinavians. Greekspeople from the world overthis country could not be what it is today. Fortunately for our country. this immigration has not stopped. It was slowed for a long period by unfortunate legislation produced from fear. But our new immigration law signed into being by President Johnson on December 3 at the Statue of Liberty in New York Harbora long stones throw from Ellis Island where so many of our parents and relatives had their first contact with Americahas changed all that. Once again. our country has opened its doors to all people. without discrimination. I am proud to have contributed to the passing of that law. as I am equally proud to be the son of immigrant Irish parents. Our country can only prosper from this new bloodas it always has in the past. Freedom Leadership
