Pa.. made seven special awards for "Freedom Leadership." and one of the individuals cited was Dr. James W. Turpin. of Ashland. Ky. I call attention to his citation for "courageous and compassionate answer to the challenges of the time" through his organization Project Concern. Inc. Originally. Dr. Turpins project had the objective of helping Chinese refugees in Hong Kong and it has grown to aiding mountain tribesmen under siege in South Vietnam. Dr. Turpins efforts have resulted in the creation of hospitals. clinics and selfhelp medical training programs in South Vietnam to which he has given unselfishly of his time and work after leaving his own private medical practice.
