But the fact is. we did. And I have the feeling that if we desert them now to a certain and horrible fate. then we will face sure retribution of some sort. And maybe wed deserve it. Personally. Im glad Im not President Johnson. to face the decisions he must make. Im afraid I wouldnt have the courage. But Ive seen these things in South Vietnam many times over the years. Ive seen the refugees. Ive been in their new villages. in the jungles in between. Ive talked to them and know their hopes and their gratitude for being saved from the Communists.
