Mr. Speaker. last fall one of our distinguished colleagues. Representative PETER FREYLINGHUYSEN. of New Jersey. was honored by an appointment to the U.S. delegation to the 20th General Assembly of the United Nations. As we expected. Congressman FREYLINGHUYSEN served with distinction. In fact. he is credited with a major diplomatic triumph in mediating a dispute on a resolution involving the Palestine refugee program. When the program was threatened with possible extinction due to a dispute between the Israeli and Arab delegations. Congressman FREYLINGHUYSEN negotiated a compromise resolution which passed the General Assembly. His hard work and persistence has been noted by at least two United Nations correspondents.
