Session #89 · 1965–67

Speech #890155939

They had proved themselves. built their homesand were willing to help others. The stranger. wanting a job had the right to prove his worth. By his skills he was known. and appreciated. and from whence he came was not really important. The new immigration bill reaffirms our belief that what is important about a man is his character. his skills. Also. it reaffirms the faith that the stranger here will be welcomedand can contribute to our society. The Portland Oregonian recently had an editorial on "New Rules at Gate" which I found of interest. and I ask permission to insert it in the RECORD.
