Session #89 · 1965–67

Speech #890137960

Mr. President. the Senator from Hawaii has made a very useful contribution on this particular point. One of the great misunderstandings in the consideration of the entire immigration legislation is the belief that not only have recent immigrants been unskilled and thereby contributed to the unemployment problem. but also that this pending legislation will contribute to unemployment. I believe that the Senator has discussed exhaustively and completely what we shall be doing namely. stimulating further job opportunities for the American workers. I believe that this is an extremely important point. I commend the Senator for the way in which he has addressed himself to the problem.
