The corps asked Connecticut citizens to ask what they could do for their country. and the results have been extraordinary. A tremendous blow has been dealt to the menacing forces of apathy. lethargy. and negativism. The corps has established educational projects. which include free tutoring centers. seminars. bock drives. career guidance for youth. dropout prevention programs. lecture series. the teaching of English to the foreign born. and an extensive summer leadership training program entitled "Operation Hank." named in memory of a slain Hartford police officer. Henry Jennings. Humane activities have ranged from painting homes for the needy and assisting disabled veterans to having corpsmen serve throughout Connecticut in the fields of mental retardation. prison rehabilitation. and youth counseling.
