The record is silent with respect to how many would become eligible for admission. now living in the Western Hemisphere. but who will become eligible with the passage of this bill. To be conservative about it. there must be many thousands of them. I am afraid the committee. in its hearings. failed to reveal the magnitude of that source of new immigrants. Mr. Chairman. in conclusion I repeat that the passage of this bill will result in the admission to this country of approximately 100.000 additional immigrants each year. That fact Is documented. It is a matter of record. It cannot and will not be disputed. Moreover. the Members who vote for this bill must know that by its passage they are voting to shift the mainstream of our immigrants in the future from western and northern Europe. to Africa. Asia. and the Far East. If that is what you want. well and good.
