Session #89 · 1965–67

Speech #890117669

Of this number 1.250. or over threefourths. were Americans. No one can accuse New Hampshire applegrowers of being unwilling to hire American workers. The figures provided by the State of New Hampshire Department of Employment Security are even more meaningful than the figures which I have just quoted. According to that departments survey. 361 jobs will have to be filled by Canadian workers. Two hundred and fourteen may be filled by American migrant workers. and the remainder will be filled by local workers. These facts do not raise the policy issues which the U.S. Department of Labor is supposed to be concerned with.
