(By Jenkin Lloyd Jones) Under the present McCarranWalter Immigration Act. the United States is the most generous of all nations in its immigration policy. It not only admits about 200.000 more newcomers a year than any other country. but it Is one of the few countries on earth that excludes no nation. Yet the Johnson administration is mounting a massive attack on what restrictions we have. and Congress may. indeed. be stampeded into a liberalized bill that will open the gates to an Inflow from the backward. the poor. and the overcrowded nations of the world. It claims to increase by less than 7.000 the present annual immigrant quota. True. but a weasel. For it transfers all nonused quotas into a common pot.
