The love of freedom is indeed strong in the people of these unfortunate nations. so strong that where others would have succumbed to such great forces. they could not. We have thousands of fine examples here in the United States of the spirit that sustains these peoples. Men. women. and children forced to flee from the encroaching menace. forced by bloody persecution. cruel mass deportation. and innumerable subtle pressures that were no less terrifying. have come to this free land and dedicated themselves to supporting the freedom that they were so tragically denied in their countries of birth. These new citizens have distinguished themselves in many ways. and their spirit is indeed indicative of that possessed by those still suffering under a foreign yoke in their beloved homelands. Do we need to be reminded that time is relentlessly fleeting?
