Mr. Speaker. on Saturday. February 20. 1965. I provided an opportunity for interested organizations and individuals in Greater Cleveland to express their views on the major issues related to pending immigration legislation. A public hearing was held in the Cleveland Federal Building to which I invited public officials. the leaders of the major religious faiths. the officers of interested organizations. and the public at large. To assist in crystalizing the major issues involved. I prepared a 10point questionnaire which was mailed in advance to all individuals requesting an opportunity to appear at the hearing. In addition. copies of the questionnaire were mailed in advance to the following elements of community leadership requesting cooperation in the survey: First.
