The IRCs dinner. in my opinion. was altogether unique. -because it was marked by two truly outstanding speeches. one given by President George Meany in receiving the award. and the other one given by Mr. Leo Cherne. a longtime director of the IRC. in presenting the award to Mr. Meany. Mr. Chernes speech is an eloquent statement on the moral and political significance of the modern refugee problem.
