Session #89 · 1965–67

Speech #890003158

Russia. after only 2 years of enjoying political sovereignty. In 1920 the Red army. upon orders from Moscow. overran the eastern regions of the Ukraine and slowly set out to stifle their political freedom. Many brave and noble patriots died under the tyranny of Communist Russia. millions have been deported to the desolate wasteland of Siberia. Yet neither the forcible Russification or genocides could weaken the determination of the Ukrainian people to regain their freedom and independence. Despite the countless crimes committed by Russia against these courageous patriots. the Ukrainian people have resisted when possible and have maintained their sense of national integrity.
