Carroll of the Catholic Diocese of Miami. joined with other community leaders and with the MiamiDade Chamber of Commerce to urge formation of an interracial relations committee. Bishop Carroll. aside from his responsibilities within the Catholic diocese. is a great community leader. He has gone far beyond the call of his duties. and has interested himself in the problems of the aged. education. the Cuban refugees. and the betterment and welfare of all citizens. He has given. unstintingly. his time and his efforts to community and civic endeavors. On June 11. 1963. the Dade County Board of County Commissioners established the Metropolitan Dade County Community Relations Board.
